About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Utility Locator Specialist to join our team at MasTec Communications Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in identifying, locating, and marking the location of subsurface utilities to minimize accidental damage or disruption of service due to construction excavation activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Locate cables and verify in accordance with blueprints and designated plans
  • Maintain company equipment per service requirements and safety guidelines
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
  • Safety is a top priority in your daily work
  • You have a track record of completing work with a high level of quality
  • You have a knack for figuring out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to your work
  • You are looking for long-term projects
  • You enjoy working collaboratively with your team
  • You have considerable independent judgment and must be able to interpret readings from equipment accurately
  • You are directly responsible for all personal actions and any personnel, vehicles, or equipment in your care, custody, or control
  • You report any personal or vehicle/equipment accidents/incidents immediately to supervisors and assist in the investigation of the same
  • You have a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred
  • You have previous experience in underground utility construction is a plus
  • You possess general knowledge of construction practices
  • You have knowledge of reading and understanding blueprints, electronic quarter section, and plat maps is required
  • You are willing to work outdoors in all types of weather and work overtime as required
  • You have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Possessing a valid CDL (A) license is a plus
  • You can lift up to 50 lbs.
  • You are required to perform extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, twisting, reaching above shoulder level, or working in confined spaces
