Job Summary:The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing and managing the daily patient workflow for the urology Nurse Practitioner. This includes reviewing patient charts, rooming patients, collecting vital signs, and accurately documenting medical information in our electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Responsibilities:- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and co-workers
- Manage daily workflow for urology Nurse Practitioner, including preparing patient charts and ensuring timely completion of lab requests
- Assist providers with in-office procedures, such as cystoscopies and biopsies
- Timely and accurate completion of lab requests for specimens
- Obtain prior authorizations for patient medications in a timely manner
- Prep charts for upcoming patient visits and assist in proper cleaning of all instruments and equipment
- Annual review and training of OSHA, Waste Management, and Procedure guidelines
- Assist fellow staff members and substitute, when needed
- Perform telephone triage, assessment, screening, and patient education, when needed
- High School graduate or GED; Medical Assistant certificate preferred
- 1 year of medical assistant office experience demonstrating competency, or 2 years of CNA experience
