Job Title: Medical Assistant - Urology Specialist

Michigan Institute of Urology PC is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team in the Urology department.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing and managing the daily patient workflow for the urology Nurse Practitioner. This includes reviewing patient charts, rooming patients, collecting vital signs, documenting medical information, and assisting with procedures such as cystoscopies and biopsies.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service and communicate with patients, visitors, and co-workers in a kind and respectful manner.
  • Manage daily workflow for the urology Nurse Practitioner, including preparing patient charts and ensuring timely completion of lab requests.
  • Ask preliminary exam questions and document patient information accurately in the EMR system.
  • Obtain and document patient vital signs and summary of patient visits.
  • Assist providers with in-office procedures, including cystoscopies and biopsies.
  • Timely and accurate completion of lab requests for specimens.
  • Obtain prior authorizations in a timely manner for patient medications.
  • Prep charts for upcoming patient visits.
  • Assist in proper cleaning of all instruments and equipment.
  • Annual review and training of OSHA, Waste Management, and Procedure guidelines.
  • Assist fellow staff members and substitute, when needed.
  • Perform telephone triage, assessment, screening, and patient education, when needed.
Requirements:
  • High School graduate or GED.
  • Medical Assistant certificate preferred.
  • 1 year of medical assistant office experience demonstrating competency, or LPN with 2 years of experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills.
