Job Summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Clinical Specialist to join our team in Primary Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide pharmaceutical care to patients, coordinate with medical staff, and participate in patient care rounds.

Responsibilities
  • Provide pharmaceutical care to patients in a routine and continuous manner, taking into account their age and clinical condition.
  • Interact with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide optimal pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Support clinical pharmacists and technicians in their educational development and provide leadership in the education of staff involved in providing pharmaceutical care.
  • Maintain expertise in areas of practice through continual learning, journal review, and other educational activities.
  • Educate clinical pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, post-graduate trainees, allied health professionals, nurses, and physicians in pharmacotherapy within the specialty area.
Requirements
  • PharmD or Bachelors of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy and completion of a post-graduate residency or fellowship training required.
  • Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current State within 90 days of hire. Board Certification preferred.
  • For individuals required to administer immunizations, current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire are required.
Work Environment

The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a service orientation toward patients, staff, and visitors, and convey a positive, professional image at all times.

Physical Requirements
  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps, and sitting.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person.
