Job Summary

Under the supervision of a licensed clinical professional, provides a wide range of clinical psychosocial services for adult and/or child members in a primary or specialty care, mental health, or home health setting. This includes evaluation of psychosocial assets and deficits, short-term counseling, education, advocacy, advanced care planning, and resource brokering to enable and/or maintain the greatest level of independence.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Confers and consults with supervisor regarding members' progress and treatment, and may consult with psychiatrists or other care team providers as needed.
  • Provides support to members' families, including explanation of treatment, instructions on how to support treatment, and interventions to increase acceptance and adherence to treatment.
  • Utilizes resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of members' treatment, including referral to external resources as appropriate.
  • Participates in departmental program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Reports safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.
  • Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates plans of care and/or clinical treatment programs for members with acute or chronic mental or addiction illness.
  • Instructs and counsels patients and their families regarding compliance with plans of care, including prescribed therapeutic regimens and adherence to prescribed medication regimens.
  • May administer specialized therapeutic interventions as appropriate.
  • Completes all documentation of members' treatment and progress in accordance with Kaiser Permanente, state, and NCQA regulations and in keeping with accepted community standards.
Basic Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Social Work (or Social Welfare from a clinical track), Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field required from an accredited college or university.
  • Marriage and Family Therapist Associate License (Washington) OR Mental Health Counselor Associate License (Washington) OR Licensed Social Worker Associate-Independent Clinical (Washington)
Additional Requirements
  • Prior completion of a practicum or internship in a clinical setting.
  • Must be familiar with DSM-V TR as a means of diagnosis.
  • Has experience in assessing a broad range of psychosocial needs, diagnosing and treating, psychiatric and/or addiction conditions.
  • Full licensure expected within 3-4 years of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards as related to member treatment, patient rights, and member/patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practice, person-in-environment theory, and/or psychotherapy research methods.
  • Knowledge of the bio-psycho-social functions that contribute to mental health.
  • Accuracy in assessing and/or diagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans.
  • Professional maturity and ethical integrity necessary for assuming professional responsibilities.
  • Commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in a highly interactive multidisciplinary clinic.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous clinical responsibility to include crisis intervention.
  • Experience working in a medical setting with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience working with electronic health records.
