About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Professional to join our Mobile Response Team (MRT) at the Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC). As a key member of our team, you will provide critical mental health services to individuals in crisis, working closely with housing staff and other community providers to ensure seamless care coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to crisis calls from housing sites, completing risk assessments and developing safety plans to ensure the well-being of clients.
  • Collaborate with clients, housing staff, and other support services to establish and implement plans for successful engagement and stabilization.
  • Provide follow-up services to coordinate care and link clients to relevant resources and services.
  • Complete data collection and documentation as required by the project and DESC.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with programs providing services for the population served.
  • Comply with applicable program research and evaluation procedures, as well as all agency policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for a Licensed AAC credential or equivalent to act as a Mental Health Professional, with a scope of practice including independently conducting mental health assessments and making diagnoses.
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a relevant behavioral science.
  • Ability to drive an agency or personal vehicle for conducting agency-related business, with a current Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Interest in working with clients who are difficult to engage and maintain in traditional mental health/substance use disorder programs.
  • Experience and skills in working with individuals with mental illness who are difficult to engage and may resist services.
  • Familiarity with Recovery Principles, Crisis Intervention and Stabilization, Integrated Treatment of Co-occurring Disorders, Intensive Case Management, Illness Management, Trauma-Informed Treatment, and relevant evidence-based/emerging best practices.
  • Ability to assess situations quickly and respond appropriately to any type of mental health and/or substance use crisis to ensure the physical and psychological safety of clients.
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to communicate and work effectively with staff from various backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of Washington.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English (fluent).
  • Bi-cultural background/experience and/or qualify as an Ethnic Minority, DD, or Geriatric Mental Health Specialist (per WAC 388-865-0150 definition).
