Key Responsibilities
The Patient Care Monitoring Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the nursing team by performing essential tasks that contribute to the delivery of safe and effective patient care. Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct patient assistance as directed by registered nursing staff.
- Monitoring and documenting vital signs accurately.
- Assisting patients with personal hygiene and physical care requirements.
- Measuring, recording, and reporting patient intake and output.
- Conducting daily weight assessments and blood glucose testing.
- Promptly reporting any changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
- Acting as a patient care companion when necessary.
- Facilitating the admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization within the patient care unit.
- Serving as a runner or transporter as needed.
- Documenting refrigerator temperatures and reporting any discrepancies.
- Updating bed status and ensuring a safe environment by responding to alarms and call lights.
- Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Performing reception duties for the unit and utilizing hospital information systems as required.
- Conducting 12-lead EKGs when permitted by the unit.
- Monitoring telemetry equipment and ensuring its proper functioning.
- Identifying and reporting any significant changes in patient telemetry data.
- Participating in ongoing education and training to enhance personal and professional development.
- Completing additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Licensure and Certifications: BLS certification is mandatory.
Skills and Abilities: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Completion of PCA II orientation and training is required, along with demonstrated knowledge in EKG interpretation.
Preferred Experience: At least one year of direct patient care experience is preferred.
Compensation: The pay range for this position is $23.43 per hour.
