Role Overview:
The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in providing support before, during, and after surgical procedures.

Key responsibilities include ensuring the availability and proper arrangement of surgical instruments and supplies in the operating room for each procedure; assisting the surgeon during operations as permitted by professional and legal standards; and maintaining cleanliness in the operating room post-procedure, ensuring the correct routing of equipment and used materials.

This position reports to the Manager.


Department Overview:
The Core Operating Room department consists of approximately 80 highly skilled professionals who collaborate in a dynamic and fast-paced surgical environment. Our specialties encompass general surgery, gynecology, urology, plastic surgery, bariatrics, robotics, thoracics, trauma, and transplant, allowing our team to thrive amidst a diverse array of surgical cases.

This environment fosters the opportunity for each individual to be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and support personnel, dedicated to delivering the highest quality of medical and surgical care in our region.

With a demanding volume of 60-80 surgical cases daily, we are committed to providing patients with the highest level of care utilizing cutting-edge technology and procedures.

Qualifications:
- Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Surgical Technology Program.

- Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTA) is required or must be obtained within one year of employment.

- Maintenance of CPR and BLS validation, along with attendance at annual Validation Day, is required.

- Proficiency in various surgical procedures with the ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs and recognize potential challenges.

- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
- Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding the maintenance of a sterile field is mandatory.
- Understanding and application of basic care and patient safety principles.
- Knowledge of OR emergency protocols.
