Operating Room Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Services team at ECHN. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to the delivery of exceptional patient outcomes.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of patients' conditions and care needs, including psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural aspects.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to define, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for each surgical patient.
- Follow the five medication rights and reduce the potential for medication errors, demonstrating knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age and clinical condition.
- Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and promotes positive patient outcomes, following ECHN policy for patient identification, surgical invasive procedures site identification, and time-out.
- Document the nursing process and responses to care in a timely manner, utilizing the appropriate tools.
- Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function under stressful situations, utilizing critical thinking skills and sound judgment in priority setting and delegation.
- Demonstrate autonomous practice, consistent with evidence-based standards, pursuing personal and professional growth and development, and serving as a professional role model and mentor.
- Provide accurate and pertinent reports of patients' conditions for safe transfer of care, preparing rooms in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each surgical procedure.
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and have and maintain current a Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.
- Must have certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) upon hire.
- Previous surgical or labor and delivery experience, specifically assisting with C-sections, is required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess basic computer skills.
