Job Title: Program Director, Learning to Work

CAMBA is a community of staff, volunteers, clients, donors, neighbors, and partners who work together to build an inclusive New York City, where all children and adults have access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. Our comprehensive approach offers more than 180 integrated programs in Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 73,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth.

The Learning to Work (LTW) at Young Adult Borough Centers Program provides services to students, ages 17 1/2-21, who are over-aged for grade, under-credited, and have spent at least one year in another high school to earn a high school diploma and gain valuable vocational and life skills supports. Our Primary Person Model ensures each student has a Young Adult Career Advisor who guides them towards removing barriers to graduation, engages them in college preparatory activities, provides supportive services, and increases self-direction and self-sufficiency through meaningful career exploration experiences, including subsidized internship placements for 20% of the student population.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Communicate effectively with students, direct reporting staff, peers, supervisors, and funders.
  • Plan and organize program activities to maximize program contract's goals and performance targets.
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel direct reporting staff to excel.
  • Improve teamwork among direct reporting staff as well as among peers.
  • Overcome resistance to change from students, direct reporting staff, and supervisors/funders.
  • Administer constructive discipline to direct reporting staff, as needed.
  • Manage own time effectively and coordinate program activities to maximize time of direct reporting staff.
  • Review all documentation related to students' progress for accuracy, completeness, and clarity.
  • Hold weekly meetings with principals.
  • Facilitate bi-monthly individual and team meetings with staff.
  • Oversee and maintain annual OTPS budget.
  • Lead and participate in administrative and staff meetings as requested.
  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff.
  • May reach out and market the program to the community in order to recruit students.
  • May conduct initial intake or assessment of clients and/or clients' families and periodic reassessments.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) and two years of applicable experience. Master's degree preferred. (A license is required of these Master's Degrees: Social Work (LMSW or LCSW), Mental Health Counseling, Counseling/Guidance, Art Therapy).
