About the Job

The City of Beverly Hills is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the position of Parking Enforcement Dispatcher. This role is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the safety of the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain radio and mobile data computer contact with parking enforcement officers and traffic control officers in the field, acting as a lifeline by providing information and support and monitoring their safety.
  • Answer calls to the City, coordinate services, determine priorities, dispatch appropriate services in each situation, answer business lines, screen and route calls, determine needs and dispatch appropriate personnel.
  • Query and receive information from City, State, and Federal computers on stolen goods, missing and wanted persons, license plate information, etc. and relay information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Log all calls in appropriate log book and/or computer system, complete incident cards, records messages.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment or equipment that is out of service.
  • Perform clerical duties, including record keeping, filing, compiling reports and indexing.
  • Use established policies and procedures, independent judgment, common sense and reason to make rapid and accurate decisions to achieve an effective initial or alternate course of action.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate in a teamwork environment with coworkers, other agencies, departments and the public, exercising strong customer service and group dynamic skills.
Requirements
  • A High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Typing Certificate to show ability to type at least 35 WPM.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of radio equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer and telephone equipment.
  • Knowledge of Police and Fire services code.
  • Knowledge of State codes and department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Justice Department Criminal Information System and FCC rules and regulations.
  • Ability to accurately type information into a computer aided dispatch system as it is being relayed over the radio or via the telephone.
  • Ability to speak clearly and quickly.
  • Ability to think clearly under stress and to respond quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to control conversations, quickly gathering pertinent and relevant information.
  • Ability to hear multiple conversations simultaneously, distinguishing between voices, and sources to ascertain relevant information quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to type 35 wpm.
