Job Summary

Colorado Mountain College is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Teaching Assistant II to provide exceptional learning experiences for students and support the operations of our program courses. This part-time position is limited to 28 hours per week and requires a strong commitment to student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage learners with activities and tasks to promote their understanding of content.
  • Communicate with learners about progress toward goals.
  • Assist faculty with designing and facilitating learning activities to engage groups.
  • Gather student information paperwork and submit to instructor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education and experience sufficient to meet the rigors of the position.
  • Examples include 3 years related work experience or vocational school or technical program beyond high school, at least 2 years as a teaching assistant or similar experience, administrative and/or project coordination with related coursework experience preferred or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform the functions of the position.
  • Special skills or abilities directly applicable to the position:
    • Teaching Assistants are expected to have a basic understanding of the language acquisition skills taught by the instructors, as well as strategies to work with students.
    • Exhibit exceptional verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
    • Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
    • Organize and prioritize work while exercising flexibility, teamwork, and humor.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.
Working Conditions

This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing, and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oral communication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
