We are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead compliance efforts within a prominent aerospace and defense organization recognized for its innovative technologies.

This organization focuses on delivering advanced engines, systems, and equipment for both commercial and military aviation. With a strong emphasis on research and development, they are at the forefront of aviation advancements.

The Director of Trade Compliance is responsible for overseeing adherence to regulatory standards, including export and import regulations, customs compliance, and risk management strategies. This leadership role entails guiding a team of compliance experts in the formulation, execution, and enforcement of policies and procedures that align with both national and international trade regulations.

In addition, this position acts as the Export Control Officer and supervises various compliance roles, including Export Compliance Specialist and Senior Import Compliance Specialist.

Collaboration is key, as the Director will work closely with site personnel, Corporate Legal Counsel, external legal advisors, the Corporate Export Compliance Department, and local senior leadership to serve as a primary regulatory consultant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development and implementation of policies ensuring compliance with regulations such as US ITAR, EAR, and international laws.
  • Manage import/export operations, including licensing, documentation, and compliance training initiatives.
  • Evaluate the eligibility of foreign partners for ITAR defense articles and oversee anti-bribery compliance measures.
  • Work with various departments to create import/export networks and embed compliance within operational frameworks.
  • Establish auditing programs, investigate compliance breaches, and provide expert guidance on customs and legal issues.
  • Drive enhancements that align with compliance mandates and promote cost-efficiency.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to manage approvals related to travel and IT access.
  • Ensure restricted access to controlled goods and sensitive data is limited to authorized personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, or a related discipline.
  • A degree in a trade compliance-related field along with relevant professional experience will also be considered.
  • Over 10 years of experience in export, import, and trade compliance, preferably in the aerospace sector or a related industry.
  • Experience with military programs is an advantage.
  • Prior experience as a Designated Official under the Controlled Goods Program or as an Export Control Officer in a multinational setting is desirable.
