Position Overview:

THE ROLE
The Regional Finance – Lead Consultant is an essential role that provides financial guidance to the management team overseeing Book Fairs. This position necessitates a collaborative relationship with regional management to relay financial outcomes effectively.

Key responsibilities encompass the preparation of financial reports, variance analysis against forecasts, and the identification of financial trends and opportunities that enhance regional financial performance.

Furthermore, this role will assist in the month-end general ledger closing process and the preparation of detailed, division-specific financial analyses.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the precise and timely delivery of regional financial statements and schedules by implementing and adhering to efficient processes.
• Cultivate and sustain professional relationships with Regional Vice Presidents, Sales Managers, Operations Area Leaders, and Branch Managers.

• Review and scrutinize monthly income statements at the Region and Branch levels, pinpointing and investigating variance causes, and communicating findings to regional leaders.

• Collaborate with field stakeholders to establish key performance indicators.
• Provide in-depth analysis on labor metrics, distribution assessments, warehouse initiatives, etc.
• Exhibit a solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
• Execute month-end closing activities and prepare timely account reconciliations.
• Support the development of budgets and forecasts.
• Capable of articulating P&L details to key stakeholders and delving into specifics to clarify financial outcomes.
• Create and/or maintain forward-looking financial models and confidently make recommendations to key stakeholders.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects as needed.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Qualifications)

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred.

• A minimum of three years of experience in a Financial Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role within a corporate environment is required.

• Experience in preparing journal entries and utilizing an enterprise general ledger application is essential.
• Ability to perform various month-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Proficient in conducting detailed analyses with large datasets.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, lookups, etc.) and a working knowledge of relational databases and basic database queries.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with field management leaders.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated, organized, and adaptable to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
• Familiarity with Oracle PBCS, Business Intelligence, and Smart View is advantageous.
• Some travel may be required.
