Role Summary:
The Human Resources Specialist for Benefits plays a crucial role in managing the daily operations of the HR department. This includes overseeing employee benefits, leading wellness initiatives, providing customer support, and ensuring adherence to organizational policies and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Distributes comprehensive benefits information, covering medical, dental, disability, life insurance, and retirement options to new hires.
- Administers leave of absence programs, including FMLA and Workers Compensation, collaborating with employees and management to ensure compliance and proper documentation.
- Coordinates annual open enrollment and other benefits-related events in partnership with the Library's Broker of Record.
- Assists in crafting HR policies and procedures, addressing inquiries from staff and the public regarding HR matters.
- Delivers exceptional customer service, responding to questions related to policies, benefits, and leave procedures.
- Prepares materials for HR meetings, training sessions, and events.
- Ensures compliance with employment laws and best practices at all levels.
- Maintains regular attendance and performs additional duties as required.
Compensation Structure:
The Jackson County Library District follows a structured salary schedule with incremental increases. Starting salaries are determined based on relevant education and experience, in alignment with state pay equity regulations. The initial pay range for this role is between $24.93 and $26.48 per hour.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of experience in a clerical role with HR or benefits administration responsibilities.
Preferred:
- Completion of two years of college coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience within the public sector.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Willingness to travel for work-related meetings and events.
