Job Description and Duties

The Support Services Assistant (Interpreter) plays a vital role in bridging communication between clients and staff at the Department of Developmental Services - Porterville Developmental Center. This position assists in providing and directing individualized and group-oriented education, transition, and vocational skills training related to clients' Individual Program Plans (IPPs).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in bridging communication between clients and staff
  • Provide and direct individualized and group-oriented education, transition, and vocational skills training
  • Support clients in achieving their goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure effective communication and coordination of services
Working Conditions:

This position requires ongoing interaction and instruction with clients. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and other conditions common to clinical nursing environments. The Support Services Assistant (Interpreter) must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance and participate in client containment, intervention, or restraint.

Special Requirements:

Selected candidates are subject to special requirements, including a medical evaluation. This position is required to complete a medical evaluation and may be subject to other requirements as determined by the Department of Developmental Services - Porterville Developmental Center.
