Job Summary:

As a Health Informatics Specialist with the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services, you will play a critical role in the design, testing, development, and maintenance of secure computer applications. Your expertise will be essential in providing consultative and technical assistance to customers, including application support, problem analysis and resolution, application testing, documentation, and customer training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze business needs of a program or project, gathering and evaluating data through task analysis, review of business processes, surveys, workshops, and other methods.
  • Provide consultative and technical assistance, including application support, problem analysis and resolution, application testing, documentation, and customer training.
  • Serve as a liaison between program staff and technology/support teams, interfacing effectively with customers to provide automated solutions to problems.
  • Prepare reports, training guides, and other documentation as requested by program staff and management.
  • Promote accomplishment of project and program goals through cooperative interaction and teamwork with supervisors, co-workers, and internal and external customers.


Requirements:

  • Knowledge of business process management, test development tools, and immunization principles.
  • Skills in organization and project management, conducting effective presentations, effective listening, responding to customer inquiries, and handling difficult customers in a tactful manner.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements, business design documents, and test processes, understand system designs and specifications, analyze data, develop plans, elicit business and technical requirements from customers, interpret program needs, and assess system functionality for correlation between the two.


Working Conditions:

This position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The successful candidate will be able to prioritize and plan assignments, analyze systems and procedures, and explain abstract concepts in concrete terms.
