Lead Translator for Healthcare Services

The Lead Translator for Healthcare Services is responsible for overseeing all facets of written translations within Eskenazi Health. This role entails ensuring the precision of document translations, developing and refining team resources, managing project workflows, providing training for team members, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders involved in various projects.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise all Spanish translation initiatives, ensuring translations are accurate, grammatically sound, and culturally relevant; maintain thorough records using the Language Services tracker; oversee project workflow and efficiency; engage in regular communication with clients and Translation Services personnel.
- Establish and monitor departmental benchmarks related to writing quality and project efficiency; conduct regular reviews of performance metrics and report findings to leadership.
- Facilitate the development of training materials for the department, including glossaries, dependable resources, and style guides.
- Translate and proofread documents as needed; serve as the final reviewer for Spanish translations before they are delivered to clients.
- Conduct research for translation projects and promote ongoing cultural and linguistic awareness.
- Lead team meetings and conduct feedback and training sessions, both in group settings and one-on-one.
- Maintain an updated list of reliable translation vendors; manage relationships and projects when outsourcing is required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from an accredited institution; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of three years of experience in translating written materials from English to Spanish; experience in the healthcare sector is highly desirable.
- Exceptional written communication skills in both Spanish and English.
- Possession of a valid driver's license that complies with Eskenazi Health's driving policy.
- Proficient in medical terminology in both English and Spanish.
- Bilingual and bicultural, with a strong command of both languages.
- Demonstrates excellent knowledge of spelling and grammar.
- Exhibits strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with translation software and proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
