This position is part of a union. Compensation is set at $34.19 per hour.

The role involves a variety of responsibilities concerning railroad equipment within designated areas. You will receive directives for train movements from a supervisor and complete necessary reports upon the conclusion of tasks. You will oversee and coordinate the efforts of fellow crew members engaged in train operations and car placements.

Your duties will include operating switching locomotives and other railroad machinery, moving railcars to specified locations, and ensuring precise positioning within tight tolerances. You will monitor tracks for obstructions and inspect equipment to confirm operational integrity.

Additional responsibilities include making minor adjustments to equipment, managing track switches for rerouting, and ensuring safety protocols are adhered to. You will also maintain cleanliness and perform operator-level maintenance on assigned locomotives and equipment.

Qualifications:

Preferred Experience: Handling hazardous materials.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient knowledge of assigned and related railroad equipment.
  • Ability to conduct operational maintenance with minimal oversight.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of verifiable experience in a recognized rail line as an engineer, brakeman, or conductor with diverse freight handling.
  • Possession of a valid state driver's license.
  • Required to wear safety footwear meeting ASTM F standards.
  • Successful candidates will undergo a government security evaluation and must consistently meet access eligibility for designated areas.

Physical Demands:

Daily activities include:

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Climbing to board locomotives.
  • Frequent stooping and bending.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment will be necessary.
