Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Organizing and coordinating office workflows, addressing issues to ensure efficient correspondence, arranging meetings, and following up on necessary actions.
  • Providing direction to administrative staff and overseeing the distribution of tasks, ensuring both quality and quantity of work are maintained.
  • Welcoming visitors and managing phone inquiries, assessing the nature of requests, and directing them to the appropriate personnel or providing information directly when applicable.
  • Addressing routine inquiries for information, such as report statuses and compliance deadlines, utilizing readily available files.
  • Coordinating extensive travel arrangements, organizing large-scale meetings, drafting complex correspondence, and gathering necessary background information for various reports and briefings.
  • Establishing and maintaining filing systems, planning for the upkeep and preparation of information required for reports, and managing clerical processes within the office.
Promotion Potential: The selected candidate may advance to the full performance level without further competition once all regulatory, qualification, and performance criteria are satisfied.

Work Schedule: Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Virtual Work: This position is not designated for virtual work.

Requirements

Conditions of Employment
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for application.

Qualifications

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For GS-7 positions, one year of service at GS-6 is required.

Proficiency Requirements:

(Office Automation)

Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in relevant skills. This can be achieved through passing performance tests, presenting certificates of proficiency, or self-certifying skills.

Typing Speed Requirement: A minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute is required, based on a five-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

GS-7 Minimum Qualifications:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-06 is required. Examples include:
  • Understanding of organizational functions and procedures to manage mail, phone calls, and provide general information.
  • Knowledge of correspondence standards to ensure proper grammar, spelling, and formatting.
  • Familiarity with office procedures and filing systems to effectively manage materials.
  • Ability to screen requests for information and provide authorized details from files.
  • Competence in word processing systems for text editing and formatting.
