Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Staff Development and Education to join our team at Covenant Living. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of comprehensive staff education and training programs that promote excellence in resident care and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement staff education and training programs that meet the needs of our skilled nursing employees, including orientation, in-service education, and continuing education.
  • Collaborate with department managers to plan, present, and evaluate in-service programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Utilize staff resources and suggestions to enhance the educational development of staff, and maintain accurate recordkeeping systems to demonstrate compliance.
  • Lead other types of training, including technology-based training and infection control training, and measure training effectiveness to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Assist in staff supervision, training, performance appraisals, and discipline, making recommendations for hiring, discipline, and termination as needed.
  • Establish effective relationships with staff and be a resource for them, conducting general orientation and onboarding for new employees.
  • Support and interpret policies and procedures to staff, participate in community events and networking to stay informed about key trends and changes, and represent the facility as needed in the community.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a Master's degree preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in geriatric nursing, with 1 year of experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing.
  • Previous leadership or managerial experience is a plus.
  • Active RN license in good standing, with completion of any state-required training or certifications, such as Infection Control certification.
