About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Digital Accessibility Specialist to join our team at I2USystems Inc. as a System Analyst 5. This is a full-time position that will be based in Lansing, Michigan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough reviews of our websites and applications to ensure adherence to our Digital Standards for Websites and Applications, including standards for branding and digital accessibility.
  • Test for digital accessibility using manual and automated tools, including screen readers and other assistive technologies.
  • Review for adherence to additional standards, including branding.
  • Perform testing on desktop and mobile devices.
  • Thoroughly document review results and provide them to application support teams and stakeholders.
  • Meet with teams to explain results and work closely with our eMichigan team members to ensure processes are followed and optimized.
Requirements
  • A certificate or degree in any field is required, with Information Technology (IT) being preferred.
  • Experience will be considered in lieu of a certificate or degree.
Experience
  • At least 1 year of experience testing applications for digital accessibility, with 3 years being preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital accessibility testing methodologies.
  • Advanced skills using assistive technologies, including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack, and other assistive technologies.
  • Advanced skills using accessibility evaluation tools and frameworks, including WAVE Developer Tools, Accessibility Inspector, and other accessibility evaluation tools.
  • Ability to use a variety of desktop and mobile devices and operating systems, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, Windows, MacBook, iOS, and Android.
  • Ability to prepare detailed written documentation, maintain records, and conduct correspondence related to the work.
  • Ability to communicate technical terminology at a level appropriate to the audience.
  • Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ARIA.
Location and Work Schedule

This position will be based in Lansing, Michigan, and will require in-office work for the first 12 months for onboarding. Following this, a hybrid schedule will be offered, requiring Monday and Tuesday in-office and remote work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
