Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients to identify their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families on various aspects of maternal care, including postpartum recovery and newborn care.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, ensuring safe and accurate administration.
  • Supervise and mentor nursing staff to ensure high-quality patient care and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly, including progress notes and discharge summaries.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of medical-surgical hospital experience, with previous obstetrics experience preferred.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse license and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) training within 6 months of employment.
  • Certification in inpatient obstetrics and EFM certification are preferred.
