The ideal candidate will excel in collaborating with financial advisors and strategic partners to cultivate a robust sales pipeline, secure retirement plans, and foster strategic relationships. You should be equally comfortable engaging in cold calls as you are in nurturing deep, meaningful connections with financial advisors.
As a FinTech company, we adopt a unique approach to sales that diverges from traditional methods. We believe that through strategic alliances, a virtual sales model, and teamwork, our sales professionals can achieve impressive sales volumes and become true partners to the advisors they collaborate with. You can expect to become proficient in demonstrating our software, articulating our administrative capabilities, and explaining how Vestwell's technology operates. The right candidate will be highly relationship-oriented and transactional, with a strong desire to learn and grow.
WHAT WILL YOUR ROLE ENTAIL?
You will be the primary driver for acquiring distribution and converting retirement plans within your designated sales region. This is your foundational responsibility. Additionally, your role will involve consistently providing leadership, deep expertise, and support to the broader team.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be expected to:
- Identify and successfully establish strategic partnerships with RIA Aggregators, Broker/Dealers, TPAs, Payroll Providers, Banks, and other partners in your sales region.
- Develop a sales pipeline for retirement plans in your region through key relationships and collaborate with internal teams to prospect for new clients—cold calling is essential.
- Convert retirement plan opportunities into sales through a repeatable, scalable process in conjunction with your internal sales team.
- Provide product demonstrations and possess an in-depth understanding of retirement plan record-keeping, administration, and technology.
- Establish a comprehensive process to transition sales to Vestwell's implementation and client success teams, ensuring an exceptional client experience and generating repeat business.
- Manage and achieve your sales and revenue targets for retirement plans.
- Be accountable for generating revenue from plan sponsors in your region.
REQUIREMENTS
The Essentials:
- 3-5+ years of experience in B2B sales, preferably within retirement, FinTech, wealth management, or a related industry.
- In-depth knowledge of how retirement plan advisors build, manage, and expand their practices.
- Clear understanding and ability to articulate partnerships across various channels.
- Consistent track record of managing and leading sales regions while exceeding sales targets.
- Ability to oversee the entire sales cycle for plan sales, from prospecting to conversion.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to creating a premier selling environment and processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- Experience in developing and cold calling prospect lists.
The Extras:
- Experience in selling retirement plan record-keeping and administration is a significant advantage.
- Prior experience covering the small and emerging corporate retirement plan market.
- Strong understanding of the roles of record-keepers, TPAs, and 3(16) administrators.
- Any financial services certifications are a plus, such as Series 7 and 66 or a Series 65 from a registered investment advisor, CFA, etc.
Compensation: The expected salary range for this position is $90,000-$100,000, plus variable compensation.
