Job Summary:

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a qualified Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) to join our team in Trauma/Acute Care Surgery at Libertyville. The APP will provide services to the acutely injured trauma patient across the care continuum, including initial trauma activation response, assessments, admissions, procedures, education, and discharge planning, all while collaborating with a team of board-certified surgeons.

Responsibilities:

Respond and assist in the care of level 1 & 2 trauma activations.
Manages care of in-house trauma patients across the continuum.
Performs critical care procedures including but not limited to chest tube and central line placement.
Fulfills billing and productivity metrics requirements where appropriate and maintains relevant documentation.
Completes and documents accurate comprehensive, episodic history and physical assessments.
Performs ordering, conducting, and interpreting diagnostic laboratory and imaging studies.
Formulates a comprehensive plan of care in collaborating with the patient and interdisciplinary team.

Requirements:

Master's Degree or equivalent as a Physician Assistant effective January 1, 2018 & 1 year PA experience in the relevant setting preferred.
Master's Degree or equivalent as a Nurse Practitioner & 1st Assist Certificate.
Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record.
Current licensure in the State of Illinois.
Current Illinois Controlled Substance License within 6 months of hire.
Eligible for DEA registration; Possession of a current DEA Registration within six months of hire and may vary based on practice site.
Current BLS Certification.
Current PALS/ACLS certification may vary based on practice site.
ATLS certification required within 1 year of start date.

Work Environment:

This position can recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of patient age groups; i.e., understand child growth and development, normal patterns of adolescent behavior and looks for signs of normal aging. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
