About the Role

The University of Illinois Hospital & Health Sciences System (UI Health) is seeking a skilled Medical Social Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health department, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive care to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' social, emotional, cultural, mental status, environmental, and financial circumstances.
  • Develop and implement plans of intervention based on mutually established goals.
  • Administer necessary tools in assessment, including BRPS, GAD, PHQ-0, and Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale.
  • Assess psychiatric symptoms for recommendation for inpatient or outpatient admission.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and respond to Code BERT throughout the organization.
  • Complete specialized documentation for Emergency, Inpatient, and Intensive Outpatient behavioral health populations.
Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited school or university in social or behavioral science or a related health specialty area.
  • Current State of IL Licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Behavioral Health/Psychiatric Social Work settings, intensive outpatient/partial hospitalization.
  • Experience in a medical setting.
  • Experience in group/individual therapy.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Code and DSM-5 and evidence-based interventions.
  • Bilingual language skills with the ability to read, write, speak, and translate Spanish and English.
