Research/Clinical Veterinarian

Massachusetts Institute of Technology is seeking a highly skilled Research/Clinical Veterinarian to join its Division of Comparative Medicine. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional animal care, welfare, and collaborative research support.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical veterinary support across multiple facilities for various small and large animal species.
  • Contribute to animal model development and refinement.
  • Train and mentor postdoctoral fellows, veterinary technicians, research technicians, and research staff.
  • Ensure regulatory oversight of the program.
Requirements:
  • DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school or equivalent training with ECFVG certification.
  • License to practice veterinary medicine in at least one state.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Formal training in comparative medicine with diplomate status in the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM) or European College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ECLAM).
  • At least two years' experience practicing or training in veterinary medicine in a research setting.
  • Expertise and interest in rodent medicine, management, and surgery.
  • Experience in germ-free facilities, aquatics, large animal anesthesia and surgery, and/or NHP medicine and management.
  • Experience working collaboratively with researchers and mentoring students.
