Veterinary Technician I

At Charles River Laboratories, we are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Insourcing Solutions team in Cambridge, MA.
The successful candidate will perform daily clinical and related activities of the veterinary program within the animal care environments at Charles River Accelerator & Development Labs (CRADL).
Key responsibilities include ensuring the health and welfare of laboratory animals are maintained in compliance with local, state, federal, and institutional guidelines, and regulations.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Perform regular clinical observations, review, and follow-up with veterinary team on open health cases.
- Provide timely triage and treatment to emergency cases.
- Participate in cage-side and weekly rounds to review cases with the veterinary staff.
- Electronic recordkeeping of clinical observation and treatment with necessary communications with veterinary staff and client researchers.
- Generate and submit internal and external health trending reports in the required formats and timeframes as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have an Associate degree (A.A./A.S.) or bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in animal or laboratory science, business, or related discipline, and a minimum of one - two (1-2) years of veterinary experience.
Key qualifications include:
- Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from AALAS preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience, and certifications may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
