A Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) plays a crucial role in advocating for and mentoring Transition Age Youth who are facing serious mental health challenges. Key Responsibilities:
A CPS will:

  • Meet regularly with assigned youth in both home and community settings.
  • Support the development of personal wellness and coping strategies.
  • Facilitate the enhancement of social skills and community engagement.
  • Assist in identifying educational and employment opportunities.
  • Help improve daily functioning and living skills.


Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must:

  • Hold a valid certification as a Peer Specialist (CPS).
  • Possess a valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.
  • Be available for local travel to various locations as required.
  • Demonstrate stability and competence in personal wellness and recovery.
  • Exhibit understanding of the cultural values of Transition Age Youth.
  • Show proficiency in reading, writing, and computer skills.


Job Functions:
The CPS will:

  • Engage in weekly supervision sessions.
  • Participate in required training to maintain CPS certification.
  • Utilize office equipment for essential job functions.
  • Document all session activities accurately and timely.
  • Maintain organized program files and meet deadlines.
  • Work flexible hours, including evenings, to accommodate youth schedules.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and community representatives.
