Key Responsibilities- Safety Commitment: Upholding safety standards and delivering dependable utility services while safeguarding public health and ensuring exceptional customer service.
- Installation and Maintenance: Engaging in labor tasks related to the installation, repair, and upkeep of gas, water, and wastewater pipelines, valves, fittings, motors, and associated equipment.
- Inspection Assistance: Aiding in the annual evaluations of gas valves, water valves, fire hydrants, and manholes.
- Wastewater Management: Supporting routine cleaning and inspections of wastewater main lines.
- Material Handling: Loading and unloading materials and equipment, ensuring vehicles are stocked appropriately.
- Chemical Handling: Assisting in the preparation and mixing of specific chemicals as required.
- Tool Proficiency: Utilizing and maintaining various hand and power tools effectively.
- Facility Maintenance: Cleaning, painting, and maintaining buildings, equipment, and other facilities as instructed.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Conducting preventive and corrective maintenance on company vehicles and equipment.
- Machinery Operation: Operating hand tools, small equipment, and machinery as needed.
- Team Collaboration: Performing duties within a team-oriented environment.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch regularly.
- Capability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Residency within a specified radius of the Decatur Utilities facility.
- Completion of WorkKeys Assessments: Minimum scores required in Applied Mathematics (4), Graphic Literacy (4), and Workplace Documents (4).
