The University of Michigan is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to contribute to our outpatient rehabilitation team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care to patients, particularly in the areas of geriatrics, oncology, and osteoporosis.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting treatment strategies as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families on physical therapy exercises and equipment usage.
- Identify and develop home treatment programs, ensuring patients and caregivers are well-informed.
- Support the training and orientation of new staff and students in the department.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant in Michigan.
- Valid CPR and first aid certification.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in manual therapy techniques.
- Preferred experience in outpatient orthopedic settings, particularly with geriatric and oncology patients.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position within a collaborative and patient-centered clinic. The work schedule includes weekdays with some required evening shifts.
