Position Summary: As a pivotal member of the finance team, the Cost Accountant is tasked with the continuous evaluation of product costs, the formulation of new product costing, and the analysis of margins and inventory. This role involves collaboration with various departments to enhance the financial efficiency of manufacturing processes.

Essential Functions:
  • Develop and sustain standard costing for products across multiple facilities.
  • Examine and report on gross margins across different product categories.
  • Assess and report on actual manufacturing costs versus established standards.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to estimate costs and evaluate new business ventures.
  • Identify and propose cost-efficient strategies.
  • Engage in month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
  • Provide support to other key finance and accounting personnel in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
  • Prepare and reconcile the monthly inventory perpetual ledger with general ledger reports.
  • Work closely with operations teams at various locations to promote inventory optimization.
  • Co-lead the semi-annual physical inventory process.
Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated capacity to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to evolving business needs.
  • In-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles and general accounting practices.
  • Experience in general ledger accounting, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in manufacturing or construction accounting.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers for handling office equipment and reach with arms.
  • Frequently required to communicate verbally and audibly.
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods.
  • Occasionally required to stand and walk.
  • Occasionally required to lift, push, pull, or move items weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision capabilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
  • Safety glasses are mandatory on the production floor.
  • Hearing protection is necessary in designated areas.
  • Occasionally exposed to various physical conditions, including proximity to moving machinery, vehicles, electrical currents, and exposure to heat and chemicals.
  • Occasionally subject to environmental conditions that may affect the respiratory system or skin, such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, or inadequate ventilation.
  • Occasionally exposed to cold, hot, wet, and/or humid shop conditions.
