Position Overview
The Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. is looking for a dedicated individual to join our Technical Training team within the Centralized Service organization. This team is responsible for the analysis, design, development, evaluation, and delivery of specialized training for our line of business clients.

Role Focus
This position will concentrate on training for Substation Mechanic skills in electric distribution, ensuring that both apprentice and incumbent employees meet their job specifications, collective bargaining obligations, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
The Training and Development Specialist will:
  • Deliver classroom presentations and practical field instruction on safe work practices related to electric distribution substation equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with the Design and Assessment team to create and update technical training materials, serving as a subject matter expert in Substation Mechanics.
  • Assess trainee and employee technical training across various electric distribution instructional programs.
  • Facilitate evaluations and assessments of technical training across multiple concurrent programs.
  • Assist in other instructional areas or activities as required.
  • Work alongside the Technical Training Manager and internal experts to identify training needs for Electric Distribution clients.
  • Engage with process owners and improvement managers to enhance process efficiency.
  • Establish strong relationships with clients to remain informed about operational changes relevant to effective training.
  • Utilize training and development methodologies, including analysis, design, development, evaluation, and alternative delivery methods such as eLearning and virtual instruction.
  • Conduct hands-on training safely across various topics, using appropriate manuals and resources to instruct employees in Substation Mechanics.
  • Provide excellent client service, collaborate effectively, and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Utilize tools and resources for the operation and maintenance of substation equipment, including safety tagging and inspection protocols.

Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in electric substations, including construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Availability for storm emergencies or on-call assignments as business needs dictate.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for effective collaboration with fellow instructors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of delivering effective classroom presentations.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting diversity.
  • A valid driver's license.

Desired:
  • Experience with alternative training delivery methods, including automated and virtual applications.
  • Process Improvement skills or LSS Green Belt certification.
