Position: Senior Preconstruction Estimator (Electrical)

Location: Edison, NJ

Overview: We are seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator with extensive experience in medium voltage substations, distribution systems, and critical facilities like hospitals and data centers. This role is pivotal in supporting our operational goals and collaborating with project management teams on various initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive estimates for electrical power, lighting, and low voltage systems.
  • Utilize expertise in electrical estimation processes to enhance project accuracy.
  • Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for electrical and low voltage systems.
  • Prepare thorough estimates by assigning material and labor costs to take-offs.
  • Source vendor pricing for specialized materials and equipment.
  • Participate in lead estimate reviews and track cost trends against final estimates.
  • Assist in evaluating subcontractor and vendor proposals.
  • Engage in contract scope changes and field-related change orders.
  • Coordinate project kick-off and turnover meetings effectively.
  • Occasional travel to field locations may be required.
  • Consistent and reliable onsite attendance is essential.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Over ten years of experience in estimating electrical construction projects.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Proven experience in electrical power and lighting, particularly in medium voltage systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in both hard-bid and conceptual estimating.
  • Familiarity with ConEst estimating software is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

The physical demands for this position include the ability to sit for extended periods, use hands for various tasks, and navigate construction sites as necessary.
