About the Job

The ASPCA Community Medicine team is seeking a skilled Veterinarian to provide expert care to animals in underserved communities of Los Angeles. As a Relief Veterinarian, you will be part of a dynamic team that brings quality services directly to those who need them most.

Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients in underserved areas of Los Angeles.
  • Oversee all aspects of veterinary care during a clinic day, including physical examination, diagnostics, treatment recommendations, and delivery.
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations on all surgical candidates.
  • Diagnose and treat post-surgical medical complications.
  • Provide a safe and compassionate environment for animals in our care, our staff, and for our clients by using low-stress handling techniques.
  • Triage and refer cases that do not fall within CM parameters of care as appropriate.
  • Communicate with all clients in a non-judgmental, effective, and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Current California State Veterinary License.
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, etc.) strongly preferred.
What We Offer
  • $1,000 (8-hour shift).
  • Regular part-time schedules or relief/fill-in available weekdays (Monday through Friday) 8-4 (HQHVSN) or 9-5 (PPC).
