Job Summary: As a valued member of the Johnson Regional Medical Center team, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our Environmental Services Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the hospital, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and disinfect all areas of the hospital, including patient rooms, nursing units, offices, and clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, and stairways.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting, to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Utilize appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure to ensure effective cleaning and disinfection.
  • Operate floor machines, such as buffers, scrubbers, and wet vacuums, to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Assist visitors with directions and provide excellent customer service to ensure a positive experience for our patients and visitors.
  • Report safety hazards and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Transport trash and hazardous waste to the appropriate disposal area.
  • Replenish supplies and maintain a well-stocked inventory of cleaning materials.
  • Follow all infection prevention and control practices, including Standard Precautions, Transmission-Based Precautions, and hand hygiene.
  • Maintain set quality standards when performing job duties.
  • Work day, evening, or night shifts as assigned.
  • Ability to work independently with normal supervision.
  • Observe safety precautions at all times.
  • Maintain and ensure age-specific precautions.
  • Perform all aspects of assigned tasks in a manner that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors.

Requirements:

  • Adhere to dress code and maintain a neat and clean appearance.
  • Complete annual education requirements.
  • Maintain regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Complete work within designated time.
  • Wear identification while on duty and use the computerized punch time system correctly.
  • Work at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, health plans, and staff.
  • Attend annual review and departmental inservices, as scheduled.
  • Attend staff meetings or read and return all staff meeting minutes.
  • Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community.
  • Actively participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicate the mission, ethics, and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Preferred high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Preferred one to three (1-3) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Skills:

  • Basic computer knowledge.

  • Exposure to chemical, electrical, and mechanical hazards.
