Senior Lifestyle Coordinator

Oaks Senior Living is seeking a compassionate and experienced Lifestyle Director for our Memory Care community, dedicated to enhancing the lives of seniors. Position Overview:
The Horizon's Community is designed to support senior residents experiencing Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia in a residential environment. The Lifestyle Director will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing programs and activities that provide enriching experiences for residents. This position is integral to the management team of the facility.
Qualifications:
- Preferred experience in program and event planning for older adults with cognitive impairments.
- A minimum of one year of experience working with residents with Alzheimer's and other dementias in a residential setting is required.
- Ability to engage and build rapport with older adults.
- Strong creativity and organizational capabilities.
- Supervisory experience in a healthcare or service environment is preferred.
- Valid driving record and willingness to operate company vehicles for resident transport.
- Genuine desire to work with older adults.
- Must be at least 18 years old and pass a satisfactory criminal history check.
- Must undergo a physical examination by a licensed physician and pass a drug screening.
- Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the implementation of the Horizon's Life Enrichment Program guidelines.
- Develop, plan, and participate in daily and weekly programming for Life Enrichment.
- Assess new residents and create individualized Life Enrichment Plans.
- Design a monthly activities calendar that reflects the diverse interests of residents and offers enriching opportunities. Coordinate special events, including holiday celebrations.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with residents and their families.
- Promote community involvement through volunteer opportunities, encouraging family members to participate in activities.
- Adhere to each Resident's Care Plan and communicate any changes in resident condition to the Wellness Director and Executive Director.
- Ensure compliance with Oaks Senior Living policies and procedures regarding resident care.
- Assist with meal service and supervise caregiver staff in the dining area, ensuring cleanliness post-meal.
- Maintain an adequate supply of resources for activities while adhering to budgetary constraints.
- Arrange transportation for regular and special outings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Comply with Oaks Senior Living policies, training programs, and applicable regulations.
General Management:
- Provide training and guidance to resident care staff on the Memory Enhancement and Life Enrichment Program.
- Supervise caregiver staff to ensure quality care and meet resident needs in line with Oaks Senior Living philosophy.
- Assist in developing and maintaining caregiver staff schedules to meet resident needs.
- Ensure all paperwork related to resident care is completed and current.
- Review communication tools used in resident care daily.
- Communicate resident needs with caregiver staff during shift changes and with management as necessary.
- Participate in the Manager-on-Duty rotation.
- Lead by example, fostering teamwork and promoting the Oaks Senior Living philosophy.
- Maintain an open-door policy for employees to address concerns or grievances.
- Respond to workplace injuries in accordance with Oaks Senior Living policies.
- Assist in training all resident care employees per Oaks Senior Living policies and regulations.
Physical Job Requirements:
To meet job requirements, employees must be capable of performing essential physical tasks for extended periods. Adherence to proper body mechanics and safety protocols is necessary when supporting or transferring residents. In a typical eight-hour workday, employees will:
- Stand or walk for up to eight hours.
- Sit for up to two hours.
- Frequently support up to 70 pounds.
- Occasionally lift or carry up to 15 pounds.
- Frequently kneel, bend, and reach.
- Secure appropriate assistance for resident transfers as needed.
