Responsibilities
Risk Management Specialist: Accountable for the design, organization, coordination, and execution of the Risk Management Program aimed at mitigating and controlling losses to safeguard the organization’s human, physical, and financial assets. Actively engages in performance improvement data collection and initiatives to foster an integrated program that ensures the delivery of superior healthcare. Collaborates with safety and security personnel and participates in risk-related activities within this domain. Aids in claims investigation, management, and litigation processes. Facilitates the reporting of safety incidents and data. Assesses risk management programs through data collection, follow-up, and trend analysis, presenting findings to relevant committees. Supports the development and implementation of initiatives, policies, and procedures, including educational activities for staff, focused on risk reduction and elimination across the organization. Works alongside a multidisciplinary team to identify and resolve issues, manage costs, and implement new services and performance measures.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a related healthcare field is preferred.
- Fellow or Diplomat of the American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers, Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) is preferred.
- A minimum of five years of clinical and/or management experience in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment, including at least two years of inpatient experience, is preferred.
- Experience in risk management and/or professional liability claims management is preferred.
- Knowledge of current State Laws and Regulations applicable to healthcare facilities is essential.
