Job Summary:

As a Lab Supervisor at Visionworks of America, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our laboratory, ensuring that all eyewear products meet our high standards of quality and accuracy. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify that all eyewear products are delivered to customers as promised.
  • Recruit, select, and train laboratory associates on lab equipment and certification techniques.
  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment is calibrated and maintained, and that lab expenses are kept within budget.
  • Communicate and work with laboratory associates to achieve store goals on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Assist in controlling inventory shrinkage through monitoring and recording of breakage, defects, exchanges, receipts, inventory levels, and supplies.
  • Schedule laboratory associates in compliance with payroll guidelines while considering skill levels and customer demands.
  • Conduct laboratory associate performance appraisals and coaching/counseling meetings as needed.
  • Ensure that all company safety rules and standards are followed, including internal handling and waste disposal.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One to five years of related experience required.
  • Licensed opticians must have a state opticians license.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must meet all laboratory certification requirements.
  • Must be able to work changing schedules to meet business demands.
  • Must be able to work inside location.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and effectively.
  • Must be able to read English.
  • Must be able to problem solve, reason, and resolve issues effectively.
  • Must be able to meet customer expectations.
  • Must be able to work under stress with interruptions and deadlines.
  • Must be able to follow procedures and instructions.
  • Must be able to use computer effectively and view computer screen.
  • Must be able to wear protective eyewear and gloves.
  • Must be able to work with substances that may cause skin irritation and/or noxious fumes.
  • Must be able to work in temperature changes.
  • Must be able to manage laboratory effectively.
  • Must be able to bend and stoop continuously.
  • Must be able to reach above shoulder continuously.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have own vehicle and be an insured, licensed driver in current state of residence.
  • Must demonstrate practical application of optical theory and math.
