Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to join our team at New Story Schools. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in the success of our students, overseeing the classroom team and dynamics, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).

Responsibilities

  • IEP Development and Implementation
    • Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, including IEP development, collaboration with team members, and preparation of required paperwork.
  • Lesson Planning and Instruction
    • Develop lesson plans that keep students actively engaged in learning, using a variety of instructional strategies and tailoring plans to meet individual student needs based on IEP goals and objectives.
  • Documentation and Reporting
    • Submit required documentation, including lesson plans, IEPs, report cards, progress reports, evaluation reports, and other related material in a timely manner.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement appropriate services.
  • Behavior Management and Support
    • Set clear expectations for students' behavior and provide and implement behavior management strategies and techniques to manage severe student behavior and maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Classroom Instruction and Leadership
    • Deliver classroom instruction in a meaningful and appropriate way to enable students to progress toward the goals outlined in the IEP.
  • Staff Guidance and Support
    • Provide appropriate guidance, leadership, and direction to staff within the classroom.
  • Assessment and Data Analysis
    • Conduct educational assessments and record/interpret data.
  • Confidentiality and Compliance
    • Maintain student confidentiality per agency policy, FERPA/HIPAA privacy rule regulations, and student/counselor confidentiality.
