Position Overview

Summary:
The Renewable Energy Finance (REF) division at Huntington National Bank is dedicated to facilitating project financing and non-recourse arrangements for renewable energy initiatives. This sector primarily emphasizes tax equity transactions within the renewable energy domain, encompassing wind, solar, storage, and various other renewable investments.

The REF division is in search of a skilled and driven Commercial Portfolio Manager to enhance the Renewable Energy Underwriting and Portfolio Management team. This organization collaborates with internal stakeholders to evaluate new transactions and oversee the current portfolio of loans, supporting the growth of the Commercial Bank while ensuring a scalable and well-regulated operation.

In close partnership with the origination team, clients, Relationship Managers, and the Credit Department, the Commercial Portfolio Manager will undertake the review and analysis of financial statements and engineering reports, assist in structuring transactions, evaluate credit risk, prepare deal presentations, draft credit approval memorandums, present recommendations to the credit committee, and support the monitoring and management of the credit portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct financial modeling and analysis, pinpointing critical risks, aiding senior bankers in loan structuring and pricing, preparing comprehensive written credit analyses, and contributing to credit presentations.
  • Offer analytical, underwriting, and marketing assistance during the origination and execution of new lending opportunities.
  • Examine loan documentation and due diligence materials.
  • Implement all relevant credit policies and internal procedures for the execution and funding of new transactions.
  • Establish relationships and credibility with key internal stakeholders.
  • Assist primary Portfolio Managers in maintaining accurate risk ratings, executing amendments, preparing monitoring materials, and performing other administrative tasks; may support the training, development, and review of analysts.
  • Participate in the annual review process as necessary, making recommendations for risk ratings in line with credit policy guidelines.
  • Monitor and assess ongoing compliance with financial covenants and reporting obligations.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of the Bank's lending policies and procedures, identifying any exceptions to credit policy.
Basic Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics, with a minimum of two courses in accounting required.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in an underwriting or commercial banking setting, with a focus on project finance transactions in power and infrastructure projects; proficiency in financial modeling.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to thrive in both team-oriented and independent work environments.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
