GENERAL OVERVIEW:

This role operates with a significant level of autonomy to conduct specimen collection, registration, and preparation for transport as a core responsibility. The position is pivotal in recognizing and addressing the requirements of laboratory clientele. Communication is maintained through office correspondence and telephone interactions to furnish information and resolve inquiries related to testing requests, submission protocols, and result tracking.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize information systems to compile data and monitor client interactions.
  • Exhibit consistent competency, dependability, productivity, and empathy in all aspects of the role.
  • May be required to transport samples and must be ready to provide coverage on short notice.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • A minimum of six months of phlebotomy experience with proven proficiency in specimen collection from patients across all age groups is essential.
  • Possession of a valid Michigan motor vehicle license and reliable transportation with insurance is required for site rotations and sample transport.
  • Ability to adhere to both written and verbal instructions while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills is crucial.
  • Successful experience with information systems and organized work practices is necessary.
  • Prior experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
  • A diploma or certificate from a formal phlebotomy training program is preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:
Must maintain a valid Michigan motor vehicle license.
