About the Position

The County of Riverside's Department of Public Social Services (DPSS) is seeking a skilled Support Services Technician to join their Administrative Services Division-Facilities Unit in Riverside. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance for assigned buildings, maintaining repair records, conducting security inspections, and assisting with minor maintenance projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine cleaning of vents and air ducts
  • Perform minor repairs that only require limited tradesman knowledge
  • Monitor and analyze building equipment and various electrical and mechanical appliances
  • Prepare work orders for repairs as necessary
  • Service and repair doors, gate locks, and latches
  • Move and secure furniture and equipment
  • Determine supply needs and prepare orders
  • Perform minor painting tasks using a brush or roller
  • Perform minor electrical repairs
  • Hang pictures, bulletin boards, placards, signs, etc.
  • Receive, load, and unload supplies, materials, and equipment from vendor trucks
  • Store stock in accordance with established storing systems
  • Assemble equipment such as desks, chairs, bookcases, etc.
  • Prepare work and repair orders
  • Maintain logs and databases of supply inventory, equipment, vehicle mileage/maintenance, cellular phones/pagers, purchase orders, etc.
  • Ensure vehicles are cleaned, properly maintained, and properly supplied
  • Perform minor vehicle maintenance as required
Requirements
  • Three to four years of experience in building maintenance and minor repair work
  • Basic techniques of receiving, storing, and issuing supplies and materials
  • Basic techniques involved in inventory control
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled minor maintenance work in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, building plant operations, and minor vehicle maintenance
  • Ability to read and write English at the level necessary for successful job performance
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from plans, drawings, and specifications
