Role Summary:

The SMT Operator is responsible for the setup and operation of surface mount technology equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency. This role encompasses a variety of electro-mechanical assembly tasks and includes conducting quality inspections to ensure standards are met or exceeded.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and possess a proactive, collaborative approach, focusing on customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. Strong execution skills and the ability to meet time-sensitive objectives are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to work instructions to meet quality and production targets.
  • Operate PCB Load/Unload, Transfer Conveyors, Screen Printing, Pick and Place machines, and Reflow Oven.
  • Manage setups and teardowns of Component Feeders, Matrix Trays, and Hand Placed components.
  • Document operating parameters and perform preventative maintenance, including routine cleaning of equipment and work areas (5S).
  • Understand IPC specifications related to SMT assembly.

Additional Duties and Physical Requirements:

  • Support production activities as required.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and maintain good hand-eye coordination. Occasional lifting may be required, not exceeding 30 pounds.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 1-3 years of experience with SMT equipment operation, with a preference for Juki pick and place experience.
  • IPC 610 certification is advantageous.
  • Associates degree, relevant military experience, vocational education, or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Basic mathematical skills are necessary.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and follow detailed instructions.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
