SMT Supervisor
Position Description:
The SMT Supervisor will be responsible for the hands-on management of the SMT manufacturing lines, including process, programming, scheduling and supervision of all SMT personnel.
Major Responsibilities Include:
- Plan, direct and coordinate the SMT manufacturing lines and processes.
- Generate SMT and AOI programs utilizing offline software.
- Create reflow profiles insuring integrity of solder joints within internal quality guidelines and IPC-A-610 standards.
- Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods and ensure minimal downtime through utilizing knowledge of tooling and production equipment capabilities, change-over methods, estimated production times and staffing requirements, and quality control standards.
- Analyze and plan workforce and workspace utilization for maximum efficiency.
- Communicate with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Ability to determine minimal cycle time and provide training necessary to assure zero-defect quality, and on-time delivery.
- Develop and foster a teamwork environment.
- Perform other tasks as directed by supervisory and management staff.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 5 yrs working in an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) environment with a specific focus in the Surface Mount (SMT) area. Technical experience is a must.
- Proven experience with efficient switch- overs, and running multiple jobs concurrently
- Experience in manufacturing with lead and lead-free process chemical streams.
- A hard charging work ethic and an ability to motivate others
- A seasoned, experienced leader who can select, teach, coach, and mentor a workforce to support quality-driven operations.
- A believer in and driver of continuous improvement activities
- A person with a sense of urgency and a pro-active approach to problem solving.
- A demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- A minimum of 2 years supervisory, lead, or management experience
Educational Experience:
BS or AA degree or truly exceptional experience in manufacturing/industrial engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
Other Requirements:
Availability and willingness to work alternate shifts and overtime as necessary.
Physical Demands:The physical demands of this job require constant standing, walking, visual requirements, simple grasping and reaching, keyboarding, mouse input, talking and hearing. Working conditions are predominately a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, chemicals, etc.
