Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team at EvergreenHealth. As a key member of our clinical operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth delivery of patient care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient scheduling, including creating and managing appointments, rescheduling, and cancellations.
  • Manage multi-line telephone system, responding to patient inquiries and directing emergent/urgent calls to clinical staff.
  • Verify and set up patient insurance coverage, educating patients on co-insurance/co-pay, self-pay, and other payment options.
  • Enroll patients in our patient portal and provide education on its benefits and use.
  • Request and validate interpreter services as needed.
  • Complete patient check-in, direct patients to necessary paperwork, and monitor various message pools.
  • Take accurate messages, coordinate communication between staff, and respond to patient requests and concerns.
  • Manage appointment queues, prepare and send patient outreach communications, and initiate outside medical record requests.
  • Facilitate communication between clinics, patients, and insurance companies, and identify and collect copayments.
  • Cultivate a culture of community by supporting new staff training and maintaining tidy patient waiting and staff work areas.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience in a customer service role.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, problem-solving ability, and capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written communication skills, including ability to spell accurately and write legibly.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, access and apply concepts associated with protocols, policy, and guidelines.
  • Keyboarding skills and working knowledge of Windows-based software systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a medical reception or similar administrative role.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology and common medications.
  • Experience accessing and verifying insurance coverage, using Real Time Eligibility (RTE) Payer/Insurance Portals, and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and other health industry compliance standards.
