Position Title Transplant RN-Ambulatory Clinic

At The University of Kansas Health System, we are seeking a skilled Ambulatory Transplant Nurse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our transplant clinic, you will provide exceptional care and support to patients and their families throughout their transplant journey.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  • Provide direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, utilizing the nursing process and adhering to role/scope of practice.
  • Perform preliminary assessments of patients through observation and chart review to facilitate appropriate follow-up with the healthcare team.
  • Evaluate unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitate appropriate intervention.
  • Implement clinical decisions and demonstrate the appropriate use of expert peers and/or management as applicable.
  • Accept accountability and use independent nursing judgment for care provided by self and by healthcare providers to whom care is delegated.
  • Demonstrate the appropriate use of standards, effective use of resources, and evaluation of patient response in the delivery of patient care.
  • Identify teach/learning needs of patients and provide educational instruction to patients and families with healthcare needs.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of patient and family teaching and make documentation in patient charts.
  • Respond to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
  • Complete necessary forms (i.e. FMLA, DME, Home Health orders) and obtain physician signatures as appropriate.
  • Perform the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate
  • Associate Degree Nursing
  • 6 months of RN experience
  • 2 or more years RN experience to be an Ambulatory Clinic RN PRN

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing

Required Licensure and Certification
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA) or obtained within 14 days
