About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation. This exempt-level role will provide hands-on process engineering support on the production floor, estimate costs, develop and improve manufacturing processes, and assist in tryout and development of new tooling projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide production operations support with hands-on troubleshooting and development using engineering principles.
  • Lead process optimization for the facility, focusing on improving efficiencies and reducing waste.
  • Act as a technical resource for machine capabilities and product limitations on new parts.
  • Improve process control and product quality through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maximize operational effectiveness by identifying bottlenecks and implementing set-up time reduction strategies.
  • Review tooling, machine, and product drawings using 3D CAD software.
  • Troubleshoot machine and tooling issues for production and product launches.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to qualify gauges and measuring devices for use in production processes.
  • Interface with customers regarding process-related concerns (some travel required).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with metal-forming processes such as roll forming, progressive stamping, tool tube bending, CNC machining, and/or laser cutting.
  • Computer skills – MS Office with strong Excel spreadsheet knowledge, CAD, and ability to learn new software.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • US Person as defined by ITAR & EAR.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering degree (Electrical or Mechanical preferred).
  • Experience with welding and/or robotic welding.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, manual mills & lathes, PLC, Electrical controls programming, PFMEA, SPC, GD&T, quality certification systems.

The work environment is typical of an office and manufacturing setting, requiring exposure to moving mechanical parts, temperature fluctuations, and potentially hazardous materials. Safety precautions must be taken at all times. The ideal candidate will be physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and able to drive or ride for extended periods.
