Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Office Assistant to join our team at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. The successful candidate will provide exceptional front desk support for clinical intake operations, ensuring a seamless experience for patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide reception assistance, including greeting patients, answering calls, and directing inquiries to the appropriate person or area.
  • Schedule routine appointments and follow-ups for visits and procedures that do not require pre-authorization.
  • Collect and complete patient-related documents, including demographic information and insurance details.
  • Assist patients in enrolling in Patient Secure and verify demographic information on subsequent visits.
  • Collect co-pays and balances owed to the institution and scan necessary documents into the intake system.
  • Monitor the intake work queue for timely completion and ensure accurate procedure and diagnosis coding.
  • Assist patients with insurance coverage questions and refer them to the business office for financial matters.
  • Maintain cooperative and professional relationships with physicians, nurses, and office staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including typing routine materials and maintaining files.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, database, and internet applications.
  • Light accurate keyboarding skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6 months of physician practice office experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory.
