Fiscal Technician

The Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a highly skilled Fiscal Technician to join our team at the Hampton Roads District Bridge Office.

This hourly position involves providing financial support services, including maintaining, calculating, researching, validating, and performing data input for various accounting transactions using Cardinal, FDMS, and CIVS.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining accurate records of employee time, overtime, leave, and equipment rental, applying and interpreting agency policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of agency accounts payable policies and procedures, receiving, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
  • Preparing requisition and purchase orders for material requirements, receive, verify, and reconcile cardholders' monthly SPCC package.
  • Receiving, reviewing, and processing travel authorizations and reimbursements.
  • Processing accounts receivable documentation.
  • Performing data entry of receipts and issues for department inventory into Cardinal.

The position requires working outside normal hours, on weekends, and holidays during emergency situations.

Estimated Salary Range: $19.04 - $30.94 per hour.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Basic accounting, math, and business principles.
  • Working knowledge of policies/procedures related to time and attendance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement, inventory, and travel.
  • Able to monitor, analyze, and reconcile data accurately in automated financial systems.
